Quotes, areas and visits
Which areas do you cover?
In Essex we cover Billericay, Great Burstead, Little Burstead, South Green, Hutton, Ingrave, Stock, West Hanningfield, South Hanningfield, East Hanningfield, Ramsden Heath, Downham, Rettendon, Wickford, Runwell, Shotgate, Crays Hill, Brentwood, Ingatestone, Mountnessing, Buttsbury and Margaretting (WhatsApp 07356 286928). We also have an established round in Cambridge & surrounding villages (WhatsApp 07493 600546).
How does the photo quote work?
Send photos of your property on WhatsApp with your address, postcode and email. We look at the photos and reply with an accurate price. We never need to visit your home to quote.
What should I photograph for a quote?
The front and back of the property and each side that has windows, so we can see the size and number of the windows. We also need to see the access: how we get to each side, such as gates and paths, and anything that makes it tricky, such as a conservatory or an extension.
Why are there no prices on the website?
Every property is different. The number of windows, access, conservatories and extensions all change the job, so we price each home from its photos and give you an accurate price for your home rather than a "from" price.
Do I need to be at home?
Only if we cannot get round the property without you. We need access to every side, so side gates need to be unlocked, or you need to be in to let us through. If a gate has a lock or keypad, we are happy to take the access code in advance. Gutter clearing and pressure washing also need a power socket, and pressure washing needs an outside tap.
Will I know when you are coming?
Yes. We work in area-based rounds, cleaning each town and village on the same trip, and we message you one to three days before we are due.
How and when do I pay?
We are cashless, so we do not take cash. Payment is due within seven days of the clean and nearly everyone pays by bank transfer. We can accept a cheque if bank transfer is not possible for you.
Is the first clean more expensive?
Not if you join a regular round. You get the regular round price from your very first clean, and in return we ask you to stay for at least three cleans. One-off cleans, and cleans spaced further apart than every two months, cost more, because the dirt has had longer to build up and the work is closer to a first clean than to keeping on top of it.
What if I am not happy with the clean?
We offer a satisfaction guarantee. If you are not happy with your windows, message us and we will come back and put it right.
Window cleaning
How often should my windows be cleaned?
We offer monthly or two-monthly cleans. Every two months keeps most homes looking clean all year round. Homes near busy roads or under trees, or anyone who wants their windows spotless all the time, usually choose monthly.
Do I have to commit to a regular round?
There is no contract, but we do ask regular customers to stay for at least three cleans, as that is what makes the lower round price work for us. The lower price applies from your very first clean. After the third clean, carry on as long as you like and stop whenever you want. If you only want your windows done once, book a one-off clean instead.
What is the Reach and Wash system?
Reach and Wash is a water-fed pole system. Purified water is pumped up a long pole to a soft brush, which scrubs the glass and frames and rinses them clean. Because the water has no minerals in it, windows dry clear without streaks, and upstairs windows are reached from the ground.
Do you clean windows in the rain?
Yes, in light rain. Purified water leaves nothing on the glass to dry into spots, so a shower afterwards does not spoil the clean. We only stop for heavy rain, high winds or ice.
Do I need to be at home?
Only if we cannot get round the outside without you. We work from the ground and need to reach each side of the house, so an unlocked side gate is usually all it takes. If a gate has a lock or keypad, we are happy to take the access code in advance. We message you one to three days before we come, so you know when to leave it open.
How do I get a price for window cleaning in Billericay & Wickford?
Send photos of each side of your house on WhatsApp to 07356 286928, with your address and postcode. We will reply with an accurate price for your home.
Conservatory roof cleaning
How often should a conservatory roof be cleaned?
Once a year keeps most conservatory roofs clear. It depends on the trees nearby: roofs under or beside trees, or on the shady side of a house, usually need cleaning twice a year, in spring and autumn. If you spend a lot of time in your conservatory, some customers have the roof cleaned every season, so it stays clear all year round.
Can you clean a polycarbonate conservatory roof?
Yes. Polycarbonate is cleaned gently with soft brushes and purified water, with no harsh chemicals or high pressure that could scratch or cloud it.
Do you walk on the conservatory roof?
No. The roof is cleaned from the ground or a safe access point using long, soft-bristled poles, so no weight goes on the panels.
Gutter clearing
How often should gutters be cleared?
Once a year for most homes, ideally in late autumn after the leaves have fallen. Homes close to trees may need their gutters cleared twice a year.
Do you need anything from me?
Yes, access to a power socket to run the gutter vac. An outside socket is ideal. If the nearest one is indoors, let us know when you book so someone can be in on the day.
How do you clear gutters without a ladder?
We use a gutter vac: a high-powered vacuum on a long pole, operated from the ground. It lifts leaves, moss and silt straight out of the gutter, which is safer than working from a ladder.
Can you clear gutters that have gutter hedgehogs in them?
No. We do not clear gutters with gutter hedgehogs (brush guards) fitted. If you are not sure whether you have them, mention it when you send your photos.
Do you clear the downpipes?
We clear the top of each downpipe, which is where blockages normally form.
How can I tell if my gutters are blocked?
The usual signs are water spilling over the edge when it rains, damp patches or green staining on the wall below, plants growing out of the gutter, or a downpipe that stays dry during rain.
Is gutter clearing the same as gutter cleaning?
No. Gutter clearing removes what is inside the gutter so water can flow. Cleaning the outside of the gutters, fascias and soffits is a separate service that removes dirt and green staining from the plastic.
Gutter, fascia & soffit cleaning
What is the difference between fascias and soffits?
Fascias are the boards fixed along the edge of the roof that the gutters attach to. Soffits are the boards underneath them, facing downwards, that close the gap between the fascia and the wall.
Will cleaning remove green stains from fascias?
In most cases, yes. Green algae and grey traffic film come off uPVC with soft brushing and the right cleaner. Very old or sun-damaged plastic can stay slightly discoloured. We will see how it comes up on the day.
Can this be done at the same time as gutter clearing?
Yes. Many customers book both together, so the inside of the gutters is cleared and the outside is cleaned in one visit.
Solar panel cleaning
Does cleaning solar panels make a difference?
Yes, when they are visibly dirty. Anything that blocks light, such as bird droppings, lichen or a film of dust, reduces output, and cleaning the dirt and dust off regularly has a positive effect on efficiency. Panels on steep roofs in open ground stay cleaner; low-pitched panels and those near trees or farmland benefit most.
How often should solar panels be cleaned?
Once a year suits most homes. If you notice your output dropping, or you can see droppings or moss on the panels, it is worth cleaning them sooner.
Can you remove lichen from solar panels?
Usually, if it is fairly new. Lichen that has been on the panels for a long time grips the glass and cannot always be removed without harsh methods that could damage them. We remove as much as we safely can with soft brushes and purified water, and we cannot guarantee that every patch will come off.
Do you use chemicals on solar panels?
No. Solar panels are cleaned with purified water and soft brushes only, which leaves no residue on the glass.
Pressure washing
Will pressure washing damage my paving?
There is always some risk with paving, so we take precautions. We match the pressure and nozzle to the surface, and where the joints are cement we work close to them without going directly over them, as strong pressure can blow cement joints out. Joints that are already weak or brittle can still blow out, and we do not repair or replace cement joints: that is a risk the customer accepts when booking. On block paving, some of the sand between the blocks can wash out, which is normal. We offer re-sanding of the joints as a service, so the blocks are locked back in place and the finish looks complete.
Can you re-sand block paving?
Yes, we offer re-sanding of block paving joints as part of the service. Pressure washing can lift some of the sand out of the joints, and fresh sand locks the blocks back in place and helps keep weeds from returning. Just ask for it when you send your photos.
Can you pressure wash decking?
Yes. Timber decking is cleaned at a lower pressure than paving so the wood is not damaged. Cleaning removes the green algae that makes decking slippery, and leaves it ready to re-stain or treat if you want to. If the timber is already in poor condition, pressure washing can damage the surface, even at a lower pressure. We do not repair decking, and the customer accepts that risk when booking. Tell us when you send your photos if the wood is old, soft or splintering.
How long does a pressure-washed driveway stay clean?
Usually a year or more. Areas in shade or under trees turn green faster than those in full sun.
Do I need to be home for pressure washing?
No, as long as we can use an outside tap and a power socket, and cars and furniture are moved off the area to be cleaned before we arrive. If a gate has a lock or keypad, we are happy to take the access code in advance.
Do you need water and power from me?
Yes. The pressure washer runs from your mains water and needs a power socket. We normally use an outside tap. If you do not have one, we have attachments that connect to a kitchen sink, so mention it when you send your photos.
